India-the Land Of Diversity


India is the largest democracy of the world. It is a country that is united in spite of its diversified culture. The capital of India is “Delhi” which is the prime location of the political figures of the country. It is also famous for its various historical monuments like Red Fort, Qutub Minar, Jama Masjid, India Gate etc. India is a land of Sunny Beaches, Hilly Mountains, Vibrant Festivals, Temples and Wildlife. It has a wide range of people from different religions which makes it a diverse country. Hindu, Muslim, Sikh, Christians, Buddhist, Jain or Parsis; one can find people

hailing from different religions in India. Indian religions have footed them on the fundamentals of the beliefs like worshipping cows, considering rivers as sacred, bathing in Ganges(one of the sacred rivers of India) to wash the sins off, entering the temple unshod, fearing God etc. Most of the Indians are bought up in such a religious and cultural environment. Therefore, they follow these principles with utmost faith and respect.
India is highly diverse in its languages, religions, castes and cultures but believes in Vasudev Kutumbkam i.e. entire world is like a family. Inspite of the cultural diversity, we can see people of different cultures residing together with respect to each other’s cultural traditions. India holds a great cultural heritage which provides suitable environment for various religions, cultures and languages to flourish and develop. Indian society is majorly based on spiritualism. The
various dance forms in India like Bharatnatyam, Kuchipudi, Kathakali, Mohiniattam, and Kathak etc. showcases the glimpses of spirituality. India also boasts on its numerous folk dances from different regions like Bhangra, Garba, Ghoomar and Bhavai etc.
The land of diversity is also diverse in its taste. Almost every state of India is known for its varied and mouth-watering cuisines. Be it eastern, western, northern or southern, each part of India is famous for its different dishes with diverse ingredients. However, inclination towards sweets and spicy food is found as a standard characteristic in most of the people of India.
India celebrates a number of festivals which is marked by communal harmony, fun and enthusiasm. In India, the spirit of “Unity in Diversity” is majorly spread by a variety of festivals that are celebrated here. Major festivals celebrated here are Diwali, Holi, Eid Ul Fitr, Baisakhi, Pongal, Rakhsha-Bandhan etc. People from different religions respect each other’s festivals and celebrate them joyfully.
We all know that co-operation between different groups of people is necessary for the betterment of the society and everlasting peace. Differences in religion, language or lifestyle can in no manner become a reason for dividing people. India proves to be a fine example of this philosophy with its diverse yet united culture.
